Nickname Here - 2009-12-09 10:36:44 - Standards Testing

I took an ACT english practice test that i got from the actual ACT website. Here are my scores: Usage/Mechanices (UM) Subscore Area (40 questions) = 33 Rhetorical Skills (RH) Subscore Area (35 questions) = 21 Total Number of Correct for English Test (UM + RH; 75 questions) = 54 Could anyone tell me how i did, as i dont know what to compare it to?

That answer is not correct sorry. You don't average the subscores to get the overall score. I have an ACT book in front of me and getting 54 out of 75 questions right on the English test would give you a score in the 21-23 range. Every test has a slightly different grading curve but that is approximately what you would get. The national average is about a 21 so it is above average and pretty good. The highest possible is a 36. But your mechanics are very good and if you could just work on your rhetorical skills I am sure you can get your score up with not too much effort. Good luck!

Well, your total English subscore is the average of the two sections. So that's 27. As for comparing it.. A 27 on an ACT tests is equivalent to a 610 on an SAT test. You didn't do too bad. Well above the average percentile. I believe a 27 means you scored above 86 percent of the people who took the test.
