How much time does it take to redo the TOEFL test if I fail the first one?

I'm an international student who wants to enter into a college. I want to take the TOEFL asap, because I think I could get a good score (more than 61 IBT) without taking any classes. But if I fail, is there any chance to redo it as soon as I get prepared? Are there any bad consequences of failing the first time?
Best Answer:
Internet-based TOEFL scores are mailed 15 business days after the test. Students in the US can expect to receive them 7 to 10 days later. Scores are posted online about three weeks after the test date. You will have to wait until the next testing period (a few months) to retake the test, and you can try as many times as you want. However, once the test is taken (unless you cancel your score if you think you've done badly), the results will be sent to the universities you applied for. Good luck!
