i'm italian and in my language words words must be read as written, but in English isn't so. What is the best way to learn fast every pronounce of every word?

Best Answer:

Some tips I give my English language students (adapted from Lida Baker): 1. Set aside time each day for listening. Make your goals realistic, don't say "I'm going to listen to "insert foreign language" for five hours! 2. Listen to music. Music gives good pronunciation and rhythm of a language. It also teaches vocabulary and idioms that can be used outside of a song. 3. Read children's books . . . aloud! Get used to the sound of the foreign language. Once again, you'll learn proper phrasing, etc. Increase your level of book reading as you become competent. Children's books are usually simple, lots of pictures for comprehension and come in all levels. 4. Learn a new word every day . . . or whatever works in your schedule. Learn how to use the word and practice saying it. 5. Speak to a native speaker whenever possible. Don't think of this as "practice" but as conversation. 6. Watch children's television programs or DVD's. Once again, this can be simpler (less complex plots, not necessarily less complex words!) and easier to understand. Use subtitles as needed, but give yourself ten minute sections where you don't use subtitles to see if you understand. Repeat what is said so that you develop the proper rhythm, etc. 7. Record yourself speaking and reading aloud. This will point out pronunciation errors. Have a friend listen to your recordings to see if you can be understand. Also, you can compare your reading aloud to an audio book or a television show so you can listen to native pronunciation as well as your own. 8. Most importantly, "OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SPEAK!" Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Most people are not interested in hearing perfection . . . they are interested in hearing what you have to say. Good luck!

Books.I gotta say that's the best way to learn. And while reading, pick out the words that you can't understand look them up in the dictionary, find out their meaning how it's pronounced. Of course, also watch movies/shows talking more often to people using the english language.

Listen, listen, speak, speak. Movies and TV do NOT always provide the best pronunciation advice, so that is why I recommend radio stations more (BBC, NBC etc.).

There are plenty of English speaking videos on the Net. Some of them even with English sub-titles. There are even some songs with English sub-titles. There are also some `web dictionaries` that also give the verbal pronunciation of the word you are looking up. This is an ideal way to get the correct pronunciation.
