I came to Canada three years ago and my English has improved just a little bit, and when I talk to Canadian people I continue having problems to understand what they say.... Could you guys give me some tips to get better my listening in the process of learning this hard language? Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
Best Answer:
Learning the English language is made easy for you because English is all over the world. Firstly, I would recommend buying a movie or TV-show where they speak English that you really enjoy, and putting it in English subtitles. That way you can see and read what they say at the same time and get a grasp of ways to speak it, ways to pronounce certain words and even new expressions! Secondly, if you have trouble understanding people, don't be scared to ask them to repeat what they said or to speak a little slower. I'm sure most people shouldn't be too uptight about this. Maybe it's easier first to make some friends so you can practice your English skills with them! Thirdly, don't give up! Months and months of practice will pay off, trust me! Learning a language is never easy but it's not impossible! Always have the belief in you that you can master the language and you almost certainly will! Many foreigners manage to pick up English so I'm sure you can too! Good luck! :)
