My english grammar is extremely bad. Specially in writing. Therefore, i always done very poor in my writing class. I'm a college business student, and writing is a very important part in my study. I've been studying english my whole life. English is not my first language though. I can speak and listen better than i write. FYI, i'm asian. Your advice will be helpful for me.

Best Answer:

Make friends with a native speaker and ask questions as they arise. Written is always the hardest part of learning any second language. I have studied German, French and Spanish. I am most successful at German because of the length of study (9 years), but more importantly, because of the intensive experience I had living with a German family for 2 weeks. The more exposure to native speakers in all types of settings the better.

Your English is better than most of the morons on this site that have been using English since birth. I applaud you and your desire to improve your skills of the English language.

Writing is the hardest part of a foreign language to get right. I have studied French, Spanish, Italian, and German, and English is my "mother tongue." I have excellent skills in both spoken and written English. (I base this self-assessment on grades at the University level, and job experience where I wrote and edited business reports.) However, while I actually got A+ in spoken German, if you would read my written German, it's awful. Many people make a much better impression when they speak than when they write. OK, with that introduction to demonstrate I know something about this topic, I would say your best bet is to find a friend, or hire someone if you have the money, who does have an excellent command of written English. If you can't afford to hire someone, perhaps you can do a "trade," like you wash that person's car in exchange for help with written English. There also could be some "mature" person, say an older woman or man who needs some help carrying things or lifting things - you offer your young, strong body in exchange for their help with your written English. If you sincerely want this to happen, and you use your "noodle" (slang for "head," and "use your head" is colloquial for "think" or "use imagination"), you can make it happen. Good Luck! And Yes, your English is quite good. However, for English composition classes at the University level, you do need to improve. I commend you for wanting to improve and for recognizing that you do need to improve.

Hey, The best way to improve your writting skilld in english is to concentrate when writing , ok let me tell you i am an Indian and i speak and also am keen in speaking and writting. I studied from when i was a child to now in foreing countries lik dubai and qatar (i only studied in theseboth countreise but i changed many schools in these both places.)BUT once for 1 year i had studied in Chenna-India so after that when I went back to Qatar my english (both writing and speaking )had become bad i mean worse , and my parents were not happy about that and my parents and my teachers told me the sam CONCENTRATE ON ENGLISH AND U WILL GET BACK YOUR ENGLISH, so i decided to listen t them and after exactly one month I had got back my english writting and speaking so , what i want to tell you is that concentrate in writing english and have thought that som day you wiill have keen gramar and everything that a person shud have for writing gud in english and i have to tell you , try and spek more englidh to people in your house and talk more to people in your surroundings who know english more and find a freind who is good in speakin and writting english good. and allyas foollow wat I said "concentrate in writing enlglish and have a thought that you WILL come up some day." and I tell u i also had a situation like u but i did as i told u k? hope this will help u .
