Well it's hard. I'm a Spanish native speaker who studies English translation! First, do lists in categories (otherwise you'll never find the words) I always try to discriminate the ones I always forget about in a different list. Do posters, stick them around your house. Some things are learnt by heart Learn from the dictionary. Use those examples. especially from a collocations dictionary. When you know many adjectives, adverbs, phrases you're very likely to learn the hard word plus learn many ways of using it. That, my friend, it's what makes the difference.
