I do not know what a scholarship actually is but i am interested on knowing as i hope to get my own scholarship some day. I also want to know specific details such as what programs could lead me to a scholarship and what kind of volunteering is required in order to be awarded a scholarship. Thank you as I am a regular student about to attending college.

Well a scholarship is a reward for good hard work. Its a way to make college tuition easier on your parents. Its not something that you will just get its something that you earn. You will compete against thousands of other kids that want the same scholarship and you have to prove that you are the best one for the reward and that you will use it wisely....review boards will not give it to a student that did nothing in school and has no potential of getting a degree. Grades are important! Good grades show a student that is serious about getting a good education and improving their life. Volunteering is another great opportunity to earn a scholarship...volunteering shows selflessness, willing to give of your own time to improve the lives of other in your community. Then there is always leadership scholarship, this you have to show leadership skills, you can do this by holding an office in one of your schools after school programs such as FCCLA or FCA. I worked hard to get and keep my scholarships, its not something that you can just hope that its given to you. You have to work hard and prove that you deserve the scholarship.

check out fastweb.com, they have a bunch of info on that. but a scholarship is a way to have the school pay for your education. there are full, partial, sports and a bunch of other scholarships avalible. make sure you get your sat scores in on time. the deadline is coming up soon. volunteer work, thats something you could get out of church, free services such as tutoring, babystting but it has to get signed off. you can make a group with some friends and clean a beach or park or something and all of you could knock out some community service time. also look into grants, thats free money that you dont need to pay back. loans are expensive and im sure a young student like you shouldnt have that over their head right now. they say that you dont need to pay for like ten years but interest rates are riddiculous. you apply for a scholarship through the school you want to get into. its best to call the school and talk to the student center or something. good luck, i hope i helped
